"This is going to grow like a forum, and I can only make the parallels to the World Economic Forum, which discusses economic issues and endeavours, and the Aspen Institute, the think tank in the United States. Well, this has all the makings in Australia to bring the best brains related to ageing, so that we can discuss the most important demographic issue of the 21st century, which is of course ageing." Dr. Alexandre Kalache, MD, PhD. Coordinator, Ageing & Life Course Programme, World Health Organization (WHO).

BackgroundThe International Research Centre for Healthy Ageing and Longevity Ltd. (IRCHAL) is a not-for-profit health promotion charity with endorsement as a deductible gift recipient and subject to Australian Government audit. IRCHAL has organised three successful international conferences on healthy ageing and longevity. In recognition of the high quality of the conference programs, the 2nd and 3rd International Conferences on Healthy Ageing & Longevity were co-sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO). The 2nd and 3rd Conferences were also endorsed by the United Nations Focal Point on Ageing and the Australian Federal Government, with special praise from the Prime Minister of Australia and Federal and State Ministers for Ageing. As the Baby Boomers, the largest generation in history, become elders, the unprecedented rise in the number of people aged over 60 will dramatically expand market demand for medical and lifestyle solutions that will enable them to live healthier, longer and more active lives. IRCHAL now has the benefit of eight years of interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge, evidence-based research into the fields of healthy ageing and longevity, across its five domains of interest. |
"IRCHAL is adequately positioned to provide support for addressing the challenges and opportunities of ageing societies around the world, in both developed and developing countries, through promoting interdisciplinary collaboration amongst the world’s leading experts on health and ageing and the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge to all major actors in government and civil society." Dr. Alexandre Sidorenko, MD, PhD. Chief, United Nations Focal Point on Ageing.
